First Year of THE MELTING POT

Little by little an idea started to grow in me until I finally started a blog called THE MELTING POT.

This is how on November 30, 2006 I wrote my first post called "The Crash Factor".

This whole idea was originated because of the growing atmosphere of fear, prejudice, intolerance in this globalised world, the clash of civilizations, and the hope to find a common ground, first exposing everybody`s views and experiences and going deep into the roots of our common origins, mythology, legends, etc.

We have so many things in common after all.

The economical urges, the dynamics of humanity cause that isolation starts to be less and less an option. Therefore, religious, racial, ideological extremisms, and intolerant positions of any kind will make our lives harder and harder.

May be in Latin America, and the Caribbean in specific, we had so much mixing of races, that we are starting to be the MELTING POT sample. USA is so close to us, that a peaceful living of different human groups can be achieved. The challenge then is given to the rest of the world.

As a poet, myself I have given great importance to the Poetry, and now my challenge is to assort poetry from all over the world!

I hope this blog continues for one more year, and many more years!!!
